Highlights - iOS Mobile App

Add Hours Improvements

After significant updates to adding hours in the NobleHour web application, we are introducing those same improvements to mobile.  Mobile iOS support is being introduced first, with Android support soon to follow.  

When adding hours on your mobile device, we’re making it even easier for you to quickly find the right opportunity, add your hours in fewer steps, and submit a reflection on your experience.  

You can:

  • Scroll through a list of network organizations to filter in on the right opportunities you’ve already signed up for 
  • Create a new organization host and opportunity on the fly
  • Quickly enter service you did on your own with no host information
  • Select start and end time on a single screen using our new intuitive circular time slider
  • Add multiple shifts on one day
  • Enter full text reflections using voice-to-text or your keyboard

Highlights

Targets

We are pleased to introduce Targets this release.  Targets is a completely new feature for NobleHour communities and their groups that allows administrators to set volunteer hour and economic impact goals and thresholds and then track the progress of their members toward achieving them.

Feature highlights of Targets include:

When creating targets, administrators can manage and customize:

  • Whether a target is applicable to individual members or if it’s a collaborative effort by the entire community or group.
  • The economic impact multiplier value and whether the target is measured in hours or dollars.
  • Start and end dates, both of which are optional.
  • The date range that the volunteer effort should occur within.  This is separate from the start and end of the target itself and is also optional. 
  • Who in the community, in terms of their relationship, the target applies to (e.g., students or staff).
  • What type of or specific volunteer opportunity, organization, or submitted hour set qualifies for the target.

Similar targets can be created easily and quickly by selecting “Copy as New” on an existing target.

Once a target starts, approved volunteer hours are automatically applied, based on described specifications, with no additional work or effort by the administrator.  

Members and administrators receive weekly emailed Target Digests, updating them on their progress and other target-related news.

New Target-specific reports give immediate access to target progress and effort.

Targets are created and managed by community and group administrators under Administration | Targets.

Relevant Target details are available to members under Track, My Account, and Impact.

  • Under Track, members can view which targets a particular hour submission qualifies for.
  • Under My Account, members can view the targets, set by their groups and communities, that apply to them.
  • Under Impact, members can view their progress status toward all of their targets across communities and groups.

Administrators can view target information under Hour Moderation and their Target interface.

  • Under Hour Moderation, moderators and administrators can understand if a particular hour submission will or has qualified for a specific target.
  • Under Target Administration, administrators can view and manage active or completed targets and quickly create new ones.

Application

  • To create a Target, log in to your community as an administrator of the community or one or more groups.
  • Visit Administration and select the new Targets tab.
  • If you have created one or more targets, you will see them listed by Title in the displayed table.  If not, you can easily create one by clicking on  towards the left of the page.
  • Complete the form as desired.  
  • Once the Target is created, you can view its details and other management options by selecting its row in the table.
  • Once the Target starts and is Active, contributed hour submissions that meet the target requirements will automatically be applied to the target once they are approved.

Member Administration

The task of being a NobleHour community or group administrator is critical and important.  With this release, we take a significant step forward in helping administrators understand and work with their members quickly, easily, and efficiently.  The improvements to administration also set the stage for introducing Targets later this summer.  Targets is a completely new feature where community and group administrators will be able to define and set volunteer hour goals for their members to achieve.  In the meantime, we hope the following improvements help make your communities even easier to manage.

New feature highlights of the Member Administration updates include:

  • Sorting members by name, role, and date joined
  • Filtering members by type (registered or managed), group membership, and opportunities joined.
  • ⭐Batch messaging so that admins can send notifications to selected members of a community or group.
  • ⭐Batch member management so that admins can quickly view reports, export, and remove selected members with a single click.
  • Adding members who, until they claim their accounts, are managed by administrators. Managed members need not have email addresses. Managed members with email addresses are encouraged to accept their accounts to become registered members.
  • ⭐Expanded member details which quickly provide admins with the member’s image, contact info, skills and interests, and their group and opportunity memberships and roles.
  • ⭐Admins are able to tag members with admin-visible only tags to help organize volunteers.

New access highlights include:

  • As a community administrator, you now have direct visibility into membership by groups and hosted or posted/contributed opportunities.  In the past, you needed to explicitly join a group or opportunity in order to see your members there.
  • As an administrator of one or more groups in a community, you now have direct access to all your members via the Administration and Moderation “hamburger” menu located at the top of your community page.  In the past, you needed to visit each individual group page to access just that group’s member list and could not gain access in one place to a member who might have joined multiple groups.  You now also have full access to the same features (not the same members, however) as community administrators.

Application

  • If you have pending member requests to moderate, you will see a count alert next to a  Pending Requests link.  Click to access and moderate requests to join your community or group(s).
  • Search by member first or last name, skills, and interests to quickly find specific sets of members.  
  • Select the Filter button to display advanced filters to narrow table lists by group(s) or hosted and contributed opportunities.  
  • Sort lists of members by name, role, or date joined.  The default order is by date joined (Since).
  • Add or invite new members using the large green “+” icon to the left.  Added members will be initially created as “managed” members until they accept their account via an emailed invitation.  More than one new member may be invited via email address using the Invite feature.
  • Click on a member row to expose enhanced member details and per-member management features.
  • Select more than one member using their row checkbox to access and complete batch actions. 
  • If you are a community administrator, you can access community settings via the Community Settings link above the members table (as a group admin, you will not see this and can access your group form to edit via the Actions dropdown on your group page).

  • As an administrator of a community or group, log in to your community on noblehour.com.
  • Click on the “hamburger” menu in the top center of your community page and select Administration.

Group Improvements

With this release, we are releasing our first phase of updates to community Groups. Phase 1 consists of updates and improvements to the presentation, creation, and management of groups in your community.  Phase 2 will follow up with significant improvements to member administration.  Phase 3 will introduce setting targets and goals for group members. 

In this phase, the list view of groups that members can join and contribute hours to is easier and hopefully more visually pleasing to scan and search.  Each group’s web page now contains more information to attract and encourage member engagement.  And, group administrators who are creating, editing, and managing their groups have more information and direct moderation control.

Application

  • Assess the difference between the dates your members volunteer and the dates that they submit their hours (orange vs. blue trending line).
  • Understand who your top performers are by member, group, and organization at a glance under Top Performers.
  • Click on tag bubbles to view percentage of opportunities with that tag and the total hours submitted to opportunities with a specific tag.
  • Much like your members find in their Track view, quickly understand the moderation status of hour sets submitted for contribution and verification.  

To access:

  • Log in to NobleHour.
  • View your reports.  As a member, visit your Member Impact view.  As an opportunity, organization, group, or community administrator, view your entity’s Reports view.

Highlights

Introducing Opportunity Tagging

In this release, we are excited to introduce our first implementation of tagging with Opportunity Tagging.  Users who enter new opportunities into NobleHour or who edit existing opportunities will be able to select from existing tags or apply new tags to those opportunities.  Tags will help:

  • Organizations robustly describe their volunteer opportunities
  • Visitors find and search for those opportunities
  • Highlight social focus areas and desired volunteer skills
  • Enhance Impact reporting and volunteer effort understanding

Application

  • Add opportunity Skills, Focus Areas, and Type tags to each opportunity to describe the skills you desire in this opportunity’s volunteers, the social impact focus area(s) it addresses, and any special type information (e.g., training, fundraising, race, etc.).
  • Visitors searching through Explore with these terms will quickly be directed to the opportunity. When we launch user Account tags, opportunities will be suggested to members with matching skills or interests.
  • Increase your understanding of Opportunity impact by examining what focus areas or skills describe the most opportunities you host or receive the most hours by volunteers. 

To access:

  • Create or edit an opportunity.
  • As you add the opportunity name and host information, enter one or more opportunity type tags to better describe the opportunity using your organization’s terms.
  • Tip:  Click on Suggestions for tag ideas.  You can always add your own.
  • On Step 5 - Details, enter the social focus area(s) the opportunity addresses and any desired volunteer skillsets.
  • Save as usual!

Check back in 2-3 weeks for new Opportunity Tag Reports!
